Description
The Redwood Grove is an 800-foot long grove located within Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea, CA. The grove is a unique local attraction as the redwoods require significant moisture and wouldn’t survive in the Southern California climate without the park’s dedicated irrigation system.
Visiting Information
- Hours: The park is open year-round, with hours varying seasonally:
- Spring/Summer Hours: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Fall/Winter Hours: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Standard Parking: The park entrance is 4442 Carbon Canyon Road, Brea, CA 92823. There is a per-vehicle entrance fee: $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends. The trailhead to the grove is located on the eastside of the far south parking lot. It takes about 1.1 miles to get there. The trail is wide, flat, and stroller accessible. However, there’s some mildly uneven terrain.
- Alternative Parking: You can opt to park outside of the park on Red Pine Rd near the Red Pine Rd and Valley View Cir intersection. This street parking is in a residential area so there is no fee. Once parked, take the trail enclosed by the white fence posts down into the grove. Use the images as a guide. Takes about 1 mile.
- Points of Interest: In the grove, you will find interpretive signs explaining the history of the trees, which were planted in 1975 from seeds leftover from a bank promotion. Traffic can be heavy since it’s a popular spot for shade and photography.
