Description
This area serves as a cultural site for the Juaneño Band of Mission Indians, Acjachemen Nation. It essentially is a simulated village, modeled after their ancestral village of Putuidem, before it was displaced by Mission San Juan Capistrano. Efforts on these grounds are ongoing between the tribe and the city of San Juan Capistrano. There currently is a stage, multiple huts, and altars. Spanish mustard flowers bloom in the surrounding fields every spring. These flowers were brought by the Spanish and are considered invasive, although many visit for the aesthetics.
