Description
Los Rios Park is in the Los Rios Historic District of San Juan Capistrano, and was first built in 2009. The historic district is the oldest residential neighborhood in California, dating back to Spanish Missionary times. It was built for those who worked at Mission San Juan Capistrano (established 1776), and it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Shops have changed, but much of the architecture remains. Although Los Rios Park is newer, it’s themed similarly with a large rustic playground, vintage wooden picnic tables, and a lawn with native sycamores.
Street parking is on Paseo Adelanto next to the picnic tables. The main parking lot is right next to the playgrounds. Another secondary parking lot is behind the playground. Visitors of the park can also patron the cafes, restaurants, and shops next to it.
Park hours should be from 8:00 to sunset for all city of San Juan Capistrano parks unless specified otherwise on park signs.
Fee if wanting to reserve
The lawn and picnic tables are the two areas of the park available for reservation. Visit the Park & Facility Rental Information | San Juan Capistrano, CA for more and to book.
