Description
Park Overview
Central Park West, part of the larger Huntington Central Park, is a large recreational area run by the City of Huntington Beach that features two playgrounds, a manmade lake (Huntington Lake), and a restaurant. The lake, while manmade, allows for fishing (per State regulations), and a walking path loops around its perimeter. A small, charming portion of this path is a wooden bridge shaded by mature trees.
On-site Restaurant & Adjacent Nature Areas
The on-site restaurant, Kathy May’s Lakeview Cafe, is located on the north side of the lake. It’s only open until 2:30pm serving American style breakfast and lunch. For those interested in more nature exploration, the Shipley Nature Center (a fenced 18-acre natural area) is situated just north of the park grounds. Also, the Urban Forest is accessible from the park. Those walking around the lake can take a short excursion there by taking the access point next to the dog park. It’s managed by the Huntington Beach Tree Society.
Parking Information
Regarding parking, the main parking lot is conveniently located next to the restaurant. A secondary, less centralized lot can be found at the Inlet Drive/Edwards Street intersection, providing access to the lake and the smaller, nearby playground.
Fee if wanting to reserve
No outdoor areas within the park are available for rent, though the adjacent Senior Center offers rental facilities. A short walking path connects the Senior Center to the park’s closest playground area. It has two reservable rooms. Visit the city’s Facility Rental Page for more.
