El Dorado East Regional Park: History and Overview
Located on former bean and alfalfa fields owned by the Bixby’s, the City of Long Beach purchased the land from the family in 1968. The park officially opened a few years later, in 1971. The landscaping was shaped using the dirt excavated to build the neighboring 605 Freeway. The park spans a total of 388 acres. It is an ideal location for parties or picnics. Over time, several installments have been made to the park. Current features include:
- Four lakes connected by a stream
- Archery range
- Dog park
- Drone field
- Nature center
- Mini amusement park (El Dorado Frontier)
- Two playgrounds

The El Dorado Frontier
The mini amusement park within El Dorado Park is called the El Dorado Frontier, located on the north side of the park off Wardlow Avenue. It features:
- A slide
- A train ride
- A carousel
Parking Fees and Information
The park has a daily parking fee structure which varies by the day of the week:
- Weekends: $8
- Fridays: $7
- During the week: $6
