Summary
Historically, prior to being a park, Citrus Ranch Park was part of Irvine Ranch dating back to the late 1800’s. Even into the 1980’s, there still was a functioning grapefruit orchard, unlike the rest of the 93,000-acre ranch, which was already largely replaced with homes. It later was transitioned into a lemon orchard sometime in the 90’s, through the process of grafting lemon branches onto the grapefruit trees. The park opened in 2010, and was built around the lemon trees. There are about 1,000 lemon trees on a hill now at this park. Surrounding the hill is a lawn and picnic shelter on one side, and a playground, bathrooms, and another shelter on the other. To get a good view of the Santa Ana Mountains and San Gabriel Mountains, you can scale the lemon hill until reaching the third picnic shelter at the top. A short trail takes you there, which can be accessed at the end of the playground, while another access route is next to the parking lot. Shelters are first come first serve unless already reserved. Run by the City of Tustin. Phone number is (714) 573-3000.
Fee if wanting to reserve
To reserve a shelter, visit the Tustin Reserve a City Park Page. Shelters hold up to 50 guests. The shelter on the top of the hill cannot be reserved. The shelter next to the lawn is half the cost of the one next to the playground. As of 2025, the shelter next to the playground is $82 for residents and $164 for non-residents to reserve for the day. The lawn shelter is $49 for residents and $82 for non-residents.
