Description
Originally from Ontario Canada, George Key relocated here in the mid 1800’s for an executive position at a farming company. His home and the remaining 2.2 acres of his property were donated to the county by his descendants in 1980. The property remains in it’s original location although now is surrounded by a newer housing tract development. There is a public parking lot for visitors, but spaces are limited, maybe 10 to 12 spots max. Additional street parking in the adjacent residential area is an option for overflow parking if hosting a large event. The house was built in 1898 and the surrounding land was used to grow the county’s first Sunkist oranges. Everything on the grounds seems well maintained from the front lawn to the back patio. There is also a garden with various plants next to the lawn and orange groves near the parking lot which were added more recently. Open to public every Saturday from 10am-2pm. Casually visiting on a Saturday could entail a picnic since there are restrooms onsite. Run by OC Parks.
Fee if wanting to reserve
The inside of the house is not available for rentals, but the outside grounds are. Call or email to inquire, check rates, and reserve.
